About Ecesu Sertesen
Born in 1987, Ecesu Sertesen began her clarinet education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory in 1998.
In November 2005, she won the 3rd prize at the "II. International Young Virtuosos Competition" organized by Lubomir Pipkov National Music School in Bulgaria.
In May 2008, she graduated by successfully performing A. Copland's Clarinet Concerto in front of the audience and gave her first solo concert.
In September 2008, she won the audition and joined the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Orchestra as a solo clarinet.
On February 17-18, 2012, at the request of Fazıl Say, Ecesu Sertesen, under the baton of Naci Özgüç, performed Fazıl Say's Op. 36, "Hayyam" Clarinet Concerto with the EskiÅŸehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra, achieving great success.
In August 2012, with her chamber music group, the Istanbul Wind Ensemble, she got invited to the Samos Young Artists Festival.
In the early days of 2013, she became the Turkish performing artist of the Buffet Crampon brand.
On January 24-25, 2014, she premiered Hasan Niyazi Tura's Clarinet Concerto with the EskiÅŸehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tolga TaviÅŸ.
On April 24-26, 2014, invited as a soloist to the opening concert of the 40th Jazz Days in Freiberg / Germany. Ecesu Sertesen with the Mittelsächsischen Philharmonie Orchestra under the baton of GMD Raoul Grüneis, performed Leonard Bernstein's "Prelude, Fugue & Riffs" and Hasan Niyazi Tura's Clarinet Concerto. After three concerts in Freiberg, Döbeln, and Mittweida, music critics praised her clarinet playing and interpretation as "unique" and "velvet-like."
In December 2015, she was invited to perform with the Hong Kong Festival Wind Orchestra as a Buffet Crampon artist, where she played Hasan Niyazi Tura's Clarinet Concerto with the wind orchestra and gave a masterclass in collaboration with Tom-Lee Music and Buffet Crampon.
In August 2016, she was a jury member at the BUFFET CRAMPON CLARINET COMPETITION 2016 in Taiwan, where she also gave a recital and masterclass.
On September 25, 2017, she performed a recital at the Buffet Crampon Show Room in New York.
In October 2017, she was invited to perform Fazıl Say's Hayyam Clarinet Concerto with Maestro Howard Griffiths and the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt in concerts in Frankfurt, Potsdam, and Brandenburg on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of October, respectively, achieving great success.
In April 2018, the first CD of the Istanbul Wind Ensemble chamber music group, completing work on the Turkish Composers Album produced by Fazıl Say was released under the label Ada Müzik.
In September 2018, she recorded Max Bruch's Op. 88 Double Concerto for Clarinet and Viola with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Howard Griffiths, alongside Kyoungmin Park, violist at the Berlin Philharmonic. With the support of the Orpheum Foundation, this album was released worldwide by SONY Classical the end of 2019.
Selected as a pre-selection jury member at the prestigious 5th International Jacques Lancelot Clarinet Competition in 2020, Ecesu Sertesen was invited to Czechia, Domazlice, once and to Poland three times, where she performed solo concerts and gave masterclasses in Gdansk, Krakow, and Katowice.
In June 2021, she gave masterclasses at the Buffet Crampon USA Virtual Summer Academy.
In 2022, she performed a solo concert at the opening of the 11th European Clarinet Congress and, as part of the International Clarinet Association's 50th-anniversary celebrations, gave a solo concert with the USAF Academy Band as the "Headliner" artist, gave masterclasses during the event week with nearly 2000 participants.
In October 2023, she was a jury member at the FINALIS International Wind Instruments Competition in Bialystok, Poland, followed by masterclasses and concerts at Koszecin Palace.
In July 2024, she is going to give a masterclass at the Buffet Crampon Summer Academy in Florida.
Currently, Ecesu Sertesen is the principal solo clarinetist at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Orchestra, parallel to her solo and chamber music career.
Ecesu Sertesen is the Brand Ambassador for the Buffet Crampon brand.
